![]() Speaking of character slots, there is a limit of only 20 of them online. However, about a week before Ladder started I got the bright idea to start watching for drop games online and I got a lot of nice stuff from people cleaning out their mules to free up character slots for ladder. ![]() ![]() If I didn't play on multiple systems I would be playing offline. ![]() Without the /players command you cannot boost your XP earnings so it becomes a grind to progress at higher levels. You also get nerfed XP once you reach level 70 and it just gets worse from there. Online solo gets punished by low drops and a huge 'no drop' penalty from what I've been reading. I've been playing online solo, but only because I play on Xbox and PC. That said if it sounds more appealing to play Solo and get the full feel of what the game itself has to offer, definitely play offline with the players settings, respecs, static maps, not worrying about server issues, etc. Solo offline will always be there for you. Once the player count starts falling off, it falls off hard quickly. I would recommend you try both, but if you want to experience ladder now is probably the time to do it. I don't mean that as a negative, as it can be exciting to find a valuable items and build wealth. After a little while, you realize you're playing the economy more than the game itself. A lot of gear is super cheap by the end of the first week of ladder and you can get a sorc farming hell meph within a few hours. It's pretty easy to bypass the entire game except for the last half of hell via rushing and group play. Only really like 10% or less of the content in the game has much real value online because as the economy floods it takes a very short time for only the best items to have any real value. Online is obviously for group play and trading. It takes longer to do this and some people don't have the patience for it because it requires you to play through the game longer, but it comes with a much better sense of accomplishment to get your own stuff. ![]() You have to gear your character up and progress through the game. Offline is more of a time investment, but it generally is a more rewarding experience for people that want to find their own items.
